Examines the participation of lesbians and gay men in sports, focusing on the homophobia they confront in mainstream sporting events and their recent efforts to organize gay teams, organizations and events. The video highlights the third annual International Gay Games, held in Vancouver in August 1990, at which 7300 athletes from twenty-seven countries participated in twenty-nine events. Lesbian and gay athletes from England, North America and Europe discuss the difficulties of trying to deny their sexual orientation or the pressures of being 'out' in the sporting world, the need to eliminate discrimination against homosexuals in sports, and the importance for them of the Gay Games.
