This video chronicles the life and work of Carmen d'Avino - filmmaker, painter, sculptor, and photographer. Using interviews, archival footage and excerpts from d'Avino's films, the video traces his early experiments with film animation, his work as a combat cameraman during WWII, his postwar artistic sojourns in Europe, his return to the U.S. and experimental film making, which resulted in two Academy Award nominations for animation, and his contemporary work in wood and stone sculpture and the establishment of his own art gallery.
