This unusual documentary reveals the "friendly" face of modern-day discrimination in America. A lesbian and a gay man from San Francisco, in an effort to discover why the Religious Right perceives homosexuality as a threat to civilization, embark on a road trip into the heartland of religious bigotry in America. Traveling through Oregon, Idaho and Colorado—three states which sponsored anti-gay legislation in recent years—the filmmakers interview movement leaders, show clips from cable television programs, witness queer-hating demonstrations, and offer their own comments on their encounters. Their sincere efforts to understand the fears and concerns which motivate such extreme homophobia provides an engrossing and complex portrait of the Religious Right.
