The major political, cultural and social issues of each year in the decade are brought vividly to life in this ten-part historical series. The decade began with the bloody anti-wardemonstration at Kent State and ended with the near-meltown of the Three Mile Island nuclear reactor. In between, we saw the end of the Vietnam War and the return home of U.S. troops, the Watergate break-in and the eventual resignation of President Nixon, scandals surrounding Howard Hughes and Ted Kennedy, the growth of Women's Lib and Gay Rights, the emergence of new movie stars such as Sylvester Stallone and Richard Dreyfuss, and seemingly endless cultural fads such as disco, hot tubs, streaking, mud wrestling, water beds and break dancing. This ten-part historical series examines the major political, cultural and social issues of each year. Each cassette is time-coded for easyaccess to any one of dozens of specific topics, of which the following is only a partial listing.
1975: Saigon falls; Margaret Thatcher elected; Ford assassination attempts; Saturday Night Live; Patty Hearst arrested; UN equates Zionism with racism; Jimmy Hoffa disappears; primal scream therapy; Franco dies.
