TAHTONKA: THE PLAINS INDIANS AND THEIR BUFFALO CULTURE
Price: $79.95 Code: 1563 |
This video covers three hundred years of Plains Indians history from the pre-horse period
through the tragedy at Wounded Knee in 1890. It features Ben Black Elk, son of the
revered Holy Man of Black Elk Speaks. The video features dramatic re-enactments of the
nearly forgotten Mandan buffalo dance, hunting the buffalo by sneak-ups and surrounds,
the horse hunt, and the near desecration of the massive herds by white hide hunters.
Ending with the fervent Ghost Dance re-created by the descendants of the original Ghost
Dancers, and the Wounded Knee massacre, Tahtonka is an authentic and captivating
insight into the reality of the early Plains Indian culture and life.
