This video follows the world-famous Chicago Children's Choir on their 1996 tour of South Africa and shows how music can convey a message of peace. The Choir, founded in 1956, consists of children, aged 5 to 18, from different ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds, who join in the common goal of making beautiful music. The Choir's performances and meetings with local choirs, during which they learn songs from each other, are blended with historical footage, stunning views of South Africa's countryside and wildlife, a sobering view of life in the impoverished township of Soweto, and a visit with President Mandela.
