Bashir Ramathan throws real head snappers in a dusty boxing gym. At the crack of dawn he’s working with punching bags at a club in the Ugandan capital despite being completely blind.
He wasn’t always this way. He worked as a dignified labourer until a migraine sent him home early one day. He thought it was nothing. When he awoke the next morning, sure enough his headache was gone, but so was his eyesight. Destitute and depressed, boxing saved Bashir.
Eleven years later, he’s a force to be reckoned with in the ring, and an advocate for the rights of people living with disabilities around Uganda. This uplifting short documentary will remind audiences that if there’s something you want to achieve in life, nothing should stop you.
