Che Guevara died in Bolivia while trying to ignite the sparks of revolution. Forty years later, the country's first indigenous President, Evo Morales (an ex-coca leaf farmer), is promising to continue his work. This documentary takes a closer look at the successes and failures of Morales' ‘revolution.'

After a succinct overview of Morales historic campaign (which is covered in detail in our film, Cocalero), Looking for the Revolution begins with his first days in office. Overwhelmingly supported by Bolivia's indigenous farming class, Morales immediately sets out to enact his socialist agenda. He nationalizes the oil industry and passes laws on Agrarian reform.

However, his reforms not only heighten tensions with the country's landowning upper classes (mostly of Spanish heritage), but also within his base of indigenous farmers. This documentary peers behind the revolutionary rhetoric and iconography to discover whether Morales' new government lives up to the ideals he ran on. The result is both surprising and familiar.
